Legal Helpers Tip: Experienced Washington bankruptcy lawyers are plentiful in the Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane areas and everywhere in between. Despite its large geographical size, Washington has only two districts, eastern and western. If you live east of the mountains, your bankruptcy forms will be files in the eastern district bankruptcy court based in Spokane. Should you live near the coast, your Washington bankruptcy lawyers will file your bankruptcy court forms in the western district, based in Seattle. Your counsel will advise you that state exemptions include protecting up to $40,000 in equity in your home, one auto for each filer up to $2,500 in equity, tools of your trade, most pensions and public benefits, and up to $2,000 of personal property.
